What Is an ASO: Arguz Security Officer

At Arguz Security, ASO stands for Arguz Security Officer, but it represents far more than a title.

​

Whether your rank is ASO, ASO1, ASO2, ASO3, ASO4, Corporal, Sergeant, First Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Director, or CEO, we are all ASOs.

​

Every role, from the front line to the command staff, carries the same responsibility: to uphold professionalism, integrity, and accountability under the Arguz name.

That shared identity is what makes us different, it’s what makes us Arguz.

Leadership Background: Derrick “Mac” McBryar

Founder & CEO, Arguz Security

​

Derrick McBryar 'Mac', began his career in public safety in 2005 with the South Carolina Department of Corrections as a Cadet. At only 21 years old, he was promoted to Corporal, and six months later to Sergeant, assigned primarily to the Special Management Unit (Lock-Up). He served on the State Corrections Rapid Response Team and completed both Supervisor Training 101 and Advanced Supervisor Training through the SCDC Academy.

In 2011, he transferred to the Spartanburg County Detention Facility, which soon transitioned under the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Attended the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and returning to complete the Specific Skills Instructor Course. During his time there, he served as a member of the Spartanburg County Rifle Drill Team, a Behavioral Management Unit (BMU) Operator and completed training with the Special Operations Group. Reaching the rank of D4.

He left the Sheriff’s Office in 2017 and shifted into the private security sector. He completed training at Tri-County Technical College, becoming a state-certified Security Instructor and Firearms Instructor. Attended GLOCK armorers' course and becoming a SC Concealed Weapons Instructor. Shortly after, he was promoted to Training Corporal within a large organization, then to Captain, Director of Security & Risk Manager, and Security Licensee in 2020. Gaining Certifications in South Carolina and Georgia.

In that same year, 2020, he launched Rezolve Security 3856, later rebranding to Arguz Security 3856 in 2022.

​

Under Mac’s nearly 20 years of experience and leadership, Arguz Security has earned Best of Spartanburg in both 2024 and 2025, expanding rapidly while staying firmly committed to disciplined professionalism and client-focused protection.
